The paint shade to use on a wall would be the Paint and Paper Library’s simply named Teal. For a more powerful, greener hue Farrow and Ball have produced Vardo. These colours sit well with a subtle paintwork colour such as Clutch by Farrow and Ball or Grace by Little Greene.

If a whole wall is not for you try using a wallpaper which has a lighter background but with a teal design such as Cole and Sons hicks hexagon design .

Dark turquoise is a fabulous colour in a velvet. Many home accessories, like footstools and ottomans, grace a fairly plain room giving drama and elegance to the scheme. A silk scatter cushion on a cream sofa will also give that boost to the furniture.

This jewel colour looks great when contrasted with metallics. A brass side table and lamps with a matching teal lampshade are a pop of glamour. This combination can be further complemented by adding a tweed texture rug with a bright turquoise binding.

Layering down rather than up teal can be flexible and stylish. By contrast and tonal terracing, your room will be both lively and bright.
