Neo Classical Inspiration

A modern London apartment can be reinvented by introducing a touch of Neo Classical interior design splendour marrying the ancient and contemporary in a harmonious way.

In the entrance hall use black and white marble to add space and width. This effect can be enhanced by putting a large panel of mirrored glass made from smaller panels. By using old foxed glass you will give the effect of space but the image will be gentler and less modern.

Against this mirrored background place some classical urns on stands. This will be imposing and grand, juxtaposition against the simple architecture.

The Roman world can be referenced in the living areas mixing the comforts of today and the designs of the ancient. A console table made of black marble with columns running down the side will keep to the theme but not overwhelm. On the walls prints of architectural perspectives in black and white could be used or a frieze of an acanthus commonly seen on Roman columns would decorate the walls. Vincent Colin produced a beautiful border of this design with a bronze and cream colour way for this effect.

Even the bathroom can be decorated in Neo classical style. Return to the black and white floor in smaller scale than the hall, choose a copper bath and sneak a toile with classical heads on to finish off the room.
Carrera marble, graphic Wallpaper, deep rich colour and fabulous lighting are your guiding principles to create this look.
