London Kitchen Design

A beautiful new kitchen is a stunning addition to any property. Each client will use the kitchen in different ways.

For some it is the main living area where the whole household gathers, for these clients the kitchen was an integral part of their living room but they loved entertaining and didn’t need a cook’s kitchen.

Keeping the storage space to a minimum we made use of the space to create an island bar area where friends would gather to chat and eat whilst enjoying the river view.

As the flat is in an old warehouse it had a lot of stunning exposed brick. Texture and materials would be a large part of the design of this kitchen.

We went for a sleek modern look in the cream units. We avoided the clinical minimalist style as it would have been too cool for the warm tones of the oak floor and brick walls.

Similarly we decided to use a corian work surface in a cream with very subtle gold and tan speckles. Sounds strange but looked fabulous.

To add a bit of interest we used circular green and cream tiles as the splash back

The oak flooring ran the whole way through the flat and into the kitchen. To complement this, Indigo Design’s interior designers in Cambridgeshire designed a unique drinks cabinet in oak reminding us of the heyday of fifties glamour.

the whole effect was a warm modern space ideally suited to give enough kitchens to be practical with a large contemporary entertaining area.

Old materials living in harmony with smart indigo design.
